The Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region have signed a functional program agreement for the creation of new spaces and interventions at the Tecnopolo Manifattura in Bologna. A step that strengthens the national role of Bologna and Emilia-Romagna as the country's digital platform and a true European data valley.
It was signed this morning by the regional councillor for Economic Development, Vincenzo Colla, and the councillor for Digital Innovation of the Municipality of Bologna, Massimo Bugani.
The document supplements and updates the previous program agreement launched in 2020, in light of the new general urban planning tool (Pug) approved by the Municipality of Bologna in September 2021, in which the strategic relevance of the Tecnopolo for the development of the Municipality's TEK district is confirmed.
The agreement also takes into account the progress of the construction of the various lots, which includes the European Weather Center (Ecmwf) Data Center and the facility housing Cineca's Leonardo supercomputer and INFN data center, which are already operational, while the next locations of research activities of international and national relevance (buildings F1 and F2) are under construction.
Also starting in the next few months is work on the construction of the technological power plant for cooling and heating of some of the buildings in the subdivision. The agreement also deals with the Project called “Way of Knowledge,” which the City of Bologna is developing
