In June 2019, The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) approved the LEONARDO project, a pre-exascale EuroHPC Supercomputer presented by CINECA to represent Italy, in accordance with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of University and Research, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the International School for Higher Studies (SISSA). The machine is one of the five most powerful Supercomputers in the world and will be located in the area alongside the ECMWF Data Centre
