The "Ballette" complex will house a research and innovation hub for businesses

23/04/2024

The Regional Council has approved an agreement for the redevelopment of the "Ballette" building to be signed by the Emilia-Romagna Region, Cineca (Italian Interuniversity Consortium), Infn (National Institute of Nuclear Physics) and Icsc Foundation (National Supercomputing Center).

The building's five floors - each measuring 5,350 square meters - will house a research hub and an innovation hub for businesses after redevelopment. Two floors will be reserved for researchers from Infn, Cineca and Icsc Foundation, while the other three floors will house Arpae Ricerca and the innovation hub where international profile business acceleration and incubation activities will be developed.

What the agreement provides for:

It will be the Region that will carry out the technical and economic feasibility project of the work and activate the public evidence procedure for the executive design and execution of the work. Infn and Cineca plan to acquire ownership of two floors of the building, totaling 10,700 square meters to be used as offices with a cost-sharing of the charges incurred for the construction of the portion of the building estimated at 20 million euros.

In addition, Cineca, Infn and Icsc Foundation will collaborate on the design definition of the spaces for their own use, which, as far as subdivisions are concerned, will be the subject of subsequent agreements with the regional administration.
