The TEK District constitutes an area of about 277 hectares along the axis of Via Stalingrado, between Porta Mascarella and Dozza. It is home to some of the country's major economic players such as Fiera, Hera and Unipol, as well as important territorial players such as Legacoop, Confcooperative, Cna, and Unioncamere.
The redevelopment plan for the area also includes the gradual transformation of via Stalingrado - the real backbone of the TEK District - into a European green boulevard, with the aim among other things of reducing emissions from mobility by 40 percent, 10 degrees of soil temperature in the summer and creating more than 6,000 square meters of new green and permeable spaces.
Alongside the Tecnopolo, the driving force behind the regeneration of this strategic national and European area will be the Fiera, with a new master plan to upgrade the more urban front of the fair district and create a new entertainment and culture hub, starting with the new entrance in Piazza della Costituzione, which will house the new multi-purpose pavilion, a sports arena, commercial, cultural and recreational spaces, designed by Mario Cucinella's MCA studio; and in the northernmost areas, right in front of the Tecnopolo, a new "Digital Innovation Village," which will house new business establishments, research centers and residences.
TEK will also be presented with a specific event at MIPIM in Cannes, the most important international real estate fair.
In order to be able to ensure a coordinated development of the many planned or potential interventions, the Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region have set up a joint working group and, more recently, a working table has also been established with the Ministry of University and Research.
