Delivery of the ECMWF Data Centre
In 2021, the handover to ECMWF of the New Data Centre takes place, a 19,000-square-meter area that hosts two supercomputers and, when fully operational, will make it possible to significantly improve weather and wind forecasts and make daily long-term forecasts, rather than bi-weekly ones. In April 2022, the Emilia-Romagna Region, ECMWF, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation officially signed the final handover agreement.
